Eliminate or at least, minimize the use of javascript. Search engines tend to place more value on what is at the top of the page, and since the index is reading the entire code and not just what the human eye sees in the browser, javascript, at beat, pushes your keyword rich content further down the page. If you must use javascript, put the code in a separate file. the script off the HTML page.

While some search engines can and do now index Flash pages, there is no text for the search engine to read and index in the database. If you simply must have Flash on your home page, use HTML for text on the bottom half of the page. See Baby's Gourmet Coffee, for an example.

Frames make it unlikey that any of your pages will get ranked in the search engines, and they make it very difficult for anyone else to link to a particular page on your site. Even if you do get your pages indexed by the search engines,a visitor to your site will probably land on an orphaned frame without navigation to the rest of your site!
