Top Ten SEO Picks To Follow on Google+

by mjtaylor on August 8, 2011

It seems that Google has finally gotten social right with Google+; twenty five million users now have a profile on the new platform. And while it will be sometime before the search giant’s new social platform catches up with Facebook’s 750 million users, many of the first people to sign up and embrace the new social platform were Internet insiders. If you’re  a webmaster, Internet marketer or an SEO, you’ll want to sign up and connect with others in your industry.

Here are my top ten picks for SEOs to follow on Google+:

  1. Bruce Clay,  self described godfather of SEO; Google Plus Logo Top Ten SEOs
  2. Interviewer and author Eric Enge of Stone Temple Consulting;
  3. Rand Fishkin, founder of SEOMoz;
  4. Former Googler Vanessa Fox of Nine By Blue;
  5. Writer Matt McGee of  SearchEngineLand.com;
  6. SEO Theorist Michael Martinez;
  7. Barry Schwartz founder of  Search Engine Roundtable
  8. Patent Analyst Bill Slawski of SEO by The Sea
  9. Danny Sullivan[/URL], editor of SearchEngineLand.com
  10. SEO Book’s Aaron Wall.

I hope you will add an eleventh … you can find me here: M.-J. Taylor.

Other than the obvious (Matt Cutts), have I left off anyone you feel should make the top 20 SEOs on Google+?

12th = Me. okay, I’m probably way down the list because I only blog SEO related stuff about once a month and am not very socially active online. But you, M.J., are probably way better to follow on G+ then some of the others. Especially considering they haven’t posted anything on there in several weeks…

You know you rate in my book! I was thinking of making a second top ten for my personal SEO picks and you are definitely on that list! And thanks … but *I* haven’t blabbed as much on g+ lately either. It’s easy to treat it like a new toy and let it fall on the floor while going back to the old comfortable teddy bear.

Ahh… You’re too nice. You’re definitely on my list too!

Try Tom and Will Critchlow of Distilled and Dr. Pete of User Effect.

Great choices. I’ve added Will to my circles. And you, Robert.

Thanks for a great list! I’ve been following a few of these gentlemen and will have to add the others to my blog reader feed. (Now where did I misplace that??)

Hey! Why aren’t there more ladies in this list? And you’re definitely in my top 10 MJ!!

Thanks, Shellie! There should be more women on that list. And I have been compiling — and following – a group of women. I’m planning to do a post on them soon.

I wouldn’t add Matt, but the list you have is very well thought out. There were alot more ladies at the forefront of SEO about 9 years ago but they seem to have faded out nowadys.

Well done MJ, your 11 in my book :)
